Museum Education Program Celebrates 50th Anniversary

October 25, 2024

On Thursday, October 17, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the GW Museum Education Program (MEP) and the launch of the commemorative publication, Museum Change Agents Making the World a Better Place, edited by Lotte Lent and Greg Stevens.

The event, graciously hosted by the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museums, was a warm, wonderful celebration of five decades of MEP. More than 100 guests attended, including alumni and current students representing each decade of the program, as well as MEP colleagues and friends. GW dignitaries shared remarks highlighting the history, legacy, and impact of MEP. Welcome remarks were provided by John Wetenhall, director of the George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum. Speakers included President Ellen Granberg, Provost Christopher Bracey, Graduate School of Education and Human Development Dean Michael Feuer, MEP Director Emerita Carol B. Stapp, and event co-planners MEP Acting Director Lotte Lent, and MEP alumnus Greg Stevens (M.A.T. '01).
