Masterclass Options

Engaging with Children through Play Therapy
Dr. Maggie Parker, Associate Professor, Counseling and Human Development
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate mental health intervention for children. Within play therapy, children use their natural language of play to express their experiences, difficulties, and triumphs in the presence of a mental health professional. In this approach to counseling, the adult meets the child at their developmental level, rather than requiring the child to meet the adult's developmental level. Play therapy is an evidenced based intervention for children struggling with a multitude of difficulties, and includes many modalities to ensure children receive the care they need.

Putting Cut-Up Approaches to Education Research into Practice
Dr. Jonathan Eakle, Associate Professor, Curriculum and Pedagogy
This class is about cut-up art processes. First, there will be a lecture based on ideas that frame and guide these processes, including the ideas that have been put to work in Dr. Eakle’s recent publications and his students’ dissertations. Then, participants in the class will briefly engage in an activity aligned with these ideas and processes.
