Last month, Dr. Doran Gresham led a Real Talk group-based mentoring session for middle and high school students in Prince George's County, MD. This energetic and thought-provoking workshop titled, "Mask Off: What Face Are You Wearing?", was held at the Surratts-Clinton Library. Students dove deep into essential life skills, including thin slicing, the art of rapidly assessing a person's character in critical situations. They also explored the contrasts between virtual and real-life interactions and engaged in lively discussions about the unique traits of introverts versus extroverts. This dynamic training was part of Dr. Gresham's ongoing mentorship and community engagement efforts with 100 Black Men of Prince George's County, Maryland, empowering young minds to navigate social complexities with confidence and insight.
In February, Dr. Gresham coordinated and facilitated the first live 100 Real Talk session. This engaging community-based event sparked authentic and candid conversations that involved members of 100 Black Men of Prince George’s County, core mentees, local students, and parents. The title of the workshop was, “100 Real Talk: What’s happening to our children and how do we protect them?” During the session, guests tackled crucial topics such as how to navigate authority figures and college prep 101. Members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. offered their perspectives and energized the audience with a dynamic step show. This was the first of four real talk sessions that will be held in 2024 to better serve the children of Prince George’s County, MD.
