Join Dr. Deniece Dortch, Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration, as she extends and reframes the conversation on racism, racial trauma, gas lighting, academic theft, and the dehumanization of students. Her lecture will take a critical and brilliant look at the necessity to find agency, resistance, and perseverance in spite of the hostile environments in which these students find themselves. Dr. Dortch’s research intends to help us rethink and better understand the nuanced ways in which African American students learn how to thrive and not just survive the traumatic experiences they encounter.
