Robert J. Froehlich, Ed.D., LPC, CRC, is an Associate Professor of Counseling with the George Washington University’s (GW) Rehabilitation, Clinical Mental Health, and Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision Programs. He has provided counseling services since the early 1990’s and has been a counselor educator for more than 25 years. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (Virginia and South Carolina) and a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Dr. Froehlich is the current President of the Virginia Counselors Association and is a member of the VCA Ethics Committee. Dr. Froehlich is a past Chair of the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) Ethics Committee. His primary area of training and research is ethics in counseling. Dr. Froehlich also provides counseling services in private practice.

- November 2025 - Dr. Rob Froehlich and his Virginia Counselors Association Ethics Committee colleagues presented a two-part training series called Toward an Ethical Future at the Virginia Counselors Association Convention in Norfolk, Virginia. Part 1 was, "AI and the Practice of Counseling," and Part 2 was, "Navigating Ethical Decisions in Counseling During Challenging Times."
- October 2025 - Dr. Robert Froehlich and his wife Helen Froehlich received Outstanding Alumni Awards from the University of Scranton. They spoke at an event honoring the 60th anniversary of the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Program, where they earned their master's degrees. Their presentation was entitled, "Ethics, Boundaries, and AI: Where Do We Draw The Line?"
- September 2025 - Dr. Rob Froehlich presented, "Ethical Leadership in Counseling," to 100 emerging leaders at the Virginia Counselors Association Leadership Academy held in Richmond, VA.
- May 2025 - Dr. Rob Froehlich has been elected as the Virginia Counselors Association President-Elect (2025) and will serve as the President of the Association in 2026.
- November 14, 2024 - Dr. Rob Froehlich and his VCA Ethics Committee colleagues presented, "Artificial Intelligence: Some Considerations for the Counseling Profession," at the Virginia Counselors Association (VCA) Convention in Hampton, Virginia.
- January 10, 2024 - Dr. Rob Froehlich presented a training webinar for the Mental Health Association of New Jersey on Updates and Considerations Regarding Counseling Codes of Ethics.
- January 3, 2024 - Dr. Rob Froehlich, doctoral candidate Nichole Tichy (Counseling), and Helen Froehlich presented an invited Pre-Conference Session at the Virginia Collaborations Conference in Norfolk. The session was entitled, "Start 2024 Discussing Some Contemporary Ethical Issues."
- November 2023 - Dr. Rob Froehlich presented a breakout session entitled, "Counseling Foreign Service Professionals: Needs, Trends, Interventions," along with GSEHD alumna Dr. Kelli Sanness (Ph.D., Counseling), and Dr. Tami Nelson at the Virginia Counselors Association Annual Convention on November 9, 2023. In addition, Dr. Froehlich presented a session entitled, "Supervision Ethics: Beyond the Basics," with Dr. Kat McCleskey (Longwood University) and Dr. Aimee Brickner (South University).
- September 2023 - Dr. Rob Froehlich presented, "An overview of the 2023 revisions to the CRCC Code of Professional Ethics for Certified Rehabilitation Counselors," at the National Rehabilitation Association Annual Training Conference.
- September 2020 - Dr. Froehlich was elected to serve as an At-Large Director (2021 - 2024) on the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification's (CRCC) Board of Directors.
