Alumnus Dr. Lewis Ferebee Named CEO of EdReports

GSEHD alumnus Dr. Lewis Ferebee (master’s in School Administration) has been named chief executive officer of EdReports, an independent nonprofit that provides free reviews of instructional materials for educators nationwide. He assumed the role on June 22, 2026.

Dr. Ferebee currently serves as chancellor of DC Public Schools (DCPS), where he is the longest-serving leader in the district’s history. During his tenure, DCPS has made significant academic gains and earned national recognition for student growth and post-pandemic recovery, reflecting his strong focus on instructional quality and student achievement.

With more than two decades of experience leading large public school systems, Dr. Ferebee brings deep expertise in curriculum, instruction, and organizational leadership. Prior to his work in Washington, D.C., he served as superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools and held additional senior leadership roles in North Carolina, advancing efforts to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

EdReports plays a critical role in K–12 education by equipping educators, districts, and states with evidence-based evaluations of curricular materials, helping them make informed decisions that improve teaching and learning. In his new role, Dr. Ferebee will guide the organization through its next phase of growth and national impact.

Dr. Ferebee’s selection reflects his national leadership in education and his commitment to ensuring all students have access to high-quality instructional resources. He also served as the keynote speaker for GSEHD’s 2025 Celebration, underscoring his ongoing connection to the university and its community.
