GSEHD alumna Elizabeth Dean (EdD, Educational Leadership and Administration) was named Head of Learning Design at The Village School. The Village School is a learner-centered micro-school in Arlington, Virginia. They are launching the Creative Educators Collective this year, which is an effort to bring together creative educators and provide support in learner-centered practices such as project-based, mastery, and exhibitions of learning.
Elizabeth has spent the past fifteen years working in various roles in public schools as a high school English teacher, Department Chair, and Instructional Coach.
Elizabeth completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology & American Studies at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, and then graduated from George Washington University twice: first with a Masters in Secondary Education and second with a Doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership. Her dissertation focused on understanding more about student voice and how school leaders include students in the leadership of their schools. It was her research that led her to find The Village School.
