The Elementary Education Program is pleased to announce the recipient for the 2025-2026 Beck Endowment Award—Sanai Elizabeth Joyce.  Sanai is completing her internship year in Elementary Education and will be graduating with the Master of Education teaching degree in May 2026.

Sanai is a 2024 graduate of Coastal Carolina University with a double major in Archaeology and Geography and a minor in History, and hails from Culpeper, Virginia. Sanai’s extensive volunteer service includes tutoring in a professional mentoring program and serving as a docent in museum tours, events, and educational programs. Sanai has substituted in the elementary classroom before entering GSEHD’s Elementary Education Program to be sure teaching elementary school was indeed the career she would pursue.

In her own words—"This award not only supports my continued studies in Elementary Education, but it also affirms my commitment to becoming an impactful and compassionate educator. I am incredibly thankful to be part of a community that values and invests in the growth of its students in such meaningful ways.”

The Beck Endowment was created in 1996 from a gift by Dr. Gloria L. Horrworth, GSEHD professor emeritus, in honor of colleague, alumna, GSEHD faculty member and program director, Dr. Sylven Seid Beck
