For more than 15 years, GSEHD faculty member Dr. Maria Cseh has provided graduate students with opportunities to engage in international, experiential learning through field trips connected to her course, International and Multicultural Issues in Organizations.
This year, doctoral students in Human and Organizational Learning and master’s students in Organizational Leadership and Learning and Museum Studies traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where they immersed themselves in the region’s culture and engaged with local organizational leaders. The experience also included participation in the 25th International Conference on Human Resource Development Research and Practice at Ulster University, providing students with the opportunity to present and learn alongside scholars and practitioners from around the world.
The international field experience is designed to deepen students’ understanding of organizational leadership across cultural contexts, helping them connect theory and practice through firsthand engagement with global issues and diverse perspectives.
The group’s cultural learning was further enriched by the hospitality and guidance of Dr. Colin Green, whose support helped students gain a deeper appreciation for Northern Irish history, culture, and society.
Through initiatives such as these, Dr. Cseh continues to expand global learning opportunities for GSEHD students, fostering cross-cultural understanding, professional development, and international scholarly engagement. The annual field trip reflects GSEHD’s commitment to preparing leaders who can navigate and contribute to an increasingly interconnected world.
