Members of GW's Center for Rehabilitation Counseling Research and Education (CRCRE), presented at the 30th Annual National Association of Multicultural Rehabilitation Concerns (NAMRC) Conference, held in Raleigh, NC. The conference theme was, “A Seat at the Table: Disability, Intersectionality, and Social Justice."
Dr. Adrienne Robinson and DJ Ralston, along with colleagues from San Diego State University, Dr. Toni Saia and Leticia Vavasour, presented “Meet Us at the Cross Road: Examining the Foundations of RISE-UP.” The presentation reviewed the knowledge areas of cultural humility, disability justice, and social justice to increase counseling competencies with specific populations through the project RISE-UP. It also shared an understanding of what the RISE-UP project is and how it intends to address and promote issues of disability justice and social justice while supporting successful outcomes for underserved populations, defined as “Black, Latino, and Indigenous Native American persons, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders, and other persons of color.”
Additionally, Dr. Robinson chaired/hosted the awards luncheon and held a CRC Exam Preparation session that covered the exam schedule, overview, domain areas, counseling and career/vocational theories as well as study tips/support.
