Alumnus Dr. Brian Gittens (Ed.D., Higher Education Administration) has been appointed Vice Chancellor of People and Culture for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Dr. Gittens has served as Interim Vice Chancellor since March, while still leading the Division for Academic Pathways and Workforce Partnerships.
Dr. Gittens has more than 35 years of operations and administrative experience, is a certified senior human resources professional, and is a researcher and educator. He specializes in organizational and leadership development, organizational assessment and analysis, change management, and talent management in support of optimizing organizational performance and quality initiatives.
Prior to joining UAMS in 2019, he served as Associate Dean for Human Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Gittens also served for 13 years in the Marine Corps, in both the enlisted and officer ranks.
