GSEHD alumnus Mike Henrich (master's, International Education) self published a memoir called Teacher Boy. It rose quickly to the #1 "New Release" on Amazon in three different educational categories (biographies in education, student life, teacher and student mentoring).

Through personal anecdotes from Mr. Henrich's 1980s childhood, '90s adolescence, and a teaching career that started at the turn of the millennium and continued through the pandemic, Teacher Boy pierces through mediocre teachers, opinionated onlookers, layers of bureaucracy, swarming technology, an expectant society, ego and self-doubt, to defend the value of education even if it wasn't perfect for any of us.

After a 20-year career teaching in the classroom (including two years in the Peace Corps), Mr. Henrich has served for the last five years as the Systems of Support Advisor at West Potomac High School in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS). He was named the FCPS 2021 Outstanding Professional Employee (Region 3), the 2018 FCPS Outstanding Secondary Teacher (Region 4), and the 2014 Outstanding Secondary Teacher at Lake Braddock High School (FCPS).
