GSEHD alumna Juli Westrich (master's, Museum Education) was featured in the GW Magazine article, "The Learning Trail." Juli became the Iditarod's 2023 Teacher on the Trail, a volunteer position which requires weekly lesson planning, evening and weekend availability for Zoom calls with teachers, and finally, a visit to Alaska in March to be at various checkpoints with the mushers. (The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is a highly competitive 938-mile trek across the state of Alaska powered entirely by malamute or husky dogs.)
