Alumna, Dr. Barbara Blake, Honored with Virginia Business Magazine’s 2025 Women in Leadership Award

Alumna Dr. Barbara Blake (Ed.D., Higher Education Administration), Executive Director of the Old Dominion University Monarch Internship and Co-Op Office and Monarch Internship Academy for the Humanities, was named one of Virginia Business Magazine’s 2025 Women in Leadership Award recipients. Dr. Blake will be recognized at the award ceremony on October 6.

The Women in Leadership Awards celebrate top women executives for their overall professional accomplishments, civic engagement, mentorship, and breaking glass ceilings. To be considered, nominees must work in Virginia and hold C-suite or equivalent executive positions or be owners or co-owners of a business.

Dr. Blake is a recognized expert in regional economic analysis, workforce reintegration, wage and leadership gaps, and urbanization. Her current work aims to create high-impact work-based programs that connect ODU students with employers and prepare them for the changing world of work. She is passionate about bridging the gap between academia and industry and empowering students to achieve their academic and career goals.
