GSEHD alumna Dr. Maranda Ward (Ed.D., Curriculum and Pedagogy) received the 2024 "Rising Star" Research Mentor Award from the Clara Bliss Hinds Society of the George Washington University, School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The society recognizes women in academic medicine and science and is named after the first woman to graduate from the GW medical school. Dr. Ward was also elected to serve as Member-At-Large (2024-26) for the Society's Executive Committee.

Dr. Ward serves as an assistant professor of clinical research and leadership. Per the nomination, "Dr. Maranda Ward is an outstanding educator who is devoted to scholarship, leadership, mentorship, health equity, and antiracism. Her exemplary work has been recognized on a regional, national, and international scale ... whether checking in with me, offering assistance with recommendations or reviews, or simply being an exceptional human being, her commitment to nurturing students into outstanding leaders and researchers is truly amazing.
