Dr. Nancy Coleman (EdD, Human and Organizational Learning) was named as Dean of the Harvard Extension School and Continuing Studies within the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) at Harvard University. She will be the first woman to lead the DCE.
Dr. Coleman brings diverse expertise to her leadership of the division, having previously served in roles in both small and large institutions, corporate, and start-up ventures; and taught both online and in the classroom. She most recently served as associate provost and the founding director of strategic growth initiatives at Wellesley College, a position she's held since 2016. Formerly, she served as the vice president of academic services at Keypath Education and director of distance education at Boston University. She is past president of the University Professional Continuing Education Association (UPCEA).
Dr. Coleman is a leader in professional and continuing education, focusing on online learning technologies and innovations that improve access to and quality of programs. She is deeply committed to technology and innovation in online and place-based education that creates access and opportunities for learners of all ages, types, and socio-economic backgrounds.
