GSEHD doctoral student Aviva Walls (Educational Leadership and Administration) has been named head of school at Brandeis Marin, a K–8 independent school in San Rafael, California. She will assume the role on July 1, 2026.
Walls has served as head of school at Gersher Jewish Day School in Virginia since 2020, where she has led efforts to strengthen academic programming and foster an inclusive, mission-driven learning environment. Her leadership experience reflects a strong commitment to community engagement, student-centered learning, and the advancement of Jewish education.
In announcing her appointment, Brandeis Marin Board President Martin Lowenstein praised her collaborative leadership style and vision for education, noting, “She is a strong, approachable and collaborative leader whose ability to make Jewish learning come alive is exceptionally well matched for our community.”
Walls’s appointment marks an exciting next step in her leadership journey and highlights the impact of GSEHD students and alumni in leading schools and shaping educational communities across the country.
