Doctoral candidate Sravya Gummaluri (Counseling) was highlighted in the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCC) Visions Newsletter article, "NCC Spotlight: Sravya Gummaluri." 

Sravya turned her early feelings of isolation as a counseling student into a driving force for change. As a woman of color and advocate for marginalized voices, Gummaluri has created inclusive spaces for underrepresented counseling students through leadership roles, writing groups, and community events.

A 2022 NBCC Foundation Doctoral Fellow, she has earned multiple national awards for her work in social justice and leadership, including the Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) 2025 'Ohana Award and Social Justice Research Grant, the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) 2024 Emerging Graduate Student Leadership Award, and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) 2023 Outstanding Doctoral Student Leadership Award. In addition, she became a 2023–2024 Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Fellow. 

Gummaluri plans to continue empowering BIPOC and migrant communities through research, education, and advocacy—believing that authentic community is essential for counselors to thrive.
