If you’re looking to build career momentum while completing your master’s degree, GSEHD's Personalized 3-in-1 degree program provides the pathway for you. You’ll immediately gain applicable skills and credentials that signal expertise to employers, perfect for those looking to quickly advance their careers or make a professional pivot.

Designed for working professionals, the program is delivered part-time with just two courses per semester. Program participants will receive a graduate certificate in their first year, followed by a micro-credential and master’s degree in the second year. The entire master’s degree program can be completed in just five semesters, with courses available online, on-campus, or in a hybrid format.

How the Personalized Master’s Degree Works

After you apply and are admitted to the master’s program, you’ll collaborate with your academic advisor to select a personalized path that aligns with your interests. First, you’ll select a graduate certificate as your concentration. Currently available options include: educational technology leadership, instructional design, or literacy education. With just four courses required to complete the certificate, you can enhance your job search in the first year.

Then, you’ll choose a micro-credential in one of the following topics: educational technology leadership, instructional design, quantitative methods, understanding school reform, or literacy tutoring. Two courses are required to earn the micro-credential, which will be awarded with a digital badge that can be added to your professional LinkedIn profile.

By mixing and matching your areas of study for the graduate certificate with the micro-credential, you’ll be able to broaden your understanding of the education landscape while furthering your career opportunities. This has the added benefit of making you a more versatile professional, easily able to adapt to a rapidly changing career environment.

Benefits of the Personalized Master’s

The personalized master’s is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in careers related to education and training or those who want to leave the classroom environment and explore adjacent fields. With more variety and choices come more career opportunities. Throughout the 30-credit program, you’ll be able to diversify your interests while achieving tangible outcomes.

Another benefit of the personalized master’s is that the schedule will be clearly outlined at the start of your program. No more trying to figure out when a specific elective will be offered and if you can fit it into your schedule. Before you even start, you’ll know exactly what will be offered in each semester and how that fits toward earning your master’s degree, your graduate certificate, and your micro-credential.

The Classroom Experience

At GSEHD, we believe in preparing informed and relevant leaders. Every student has something to offer, and our online and in-person classroom environments invite collaboration, community and reciprocal learning. Our practical, real-world curriculum is designed to empower you to apply knowledge gained in classes to the workplace—often the very next day.

All students entering the personalized master’s program take the online foundational courses together, creating a cohort-like experience. Then, depending on your selected certificate and micro-credential, you’ll take courses with other students from across GSEHD’s diverse programs. Some pathways are completely online, others may be hybrid. Throughout the program, you’ll meet with faculty, with your peer students, and collaborate on projects together.

While online courses may be asynchronous, the program and coursework are intentional about facilitating interpersonal interaction. You can also attend optional faculty office hours as another way of deepening your academic and professional experience.

Career Outcomes

As education continues to be transformed by technology and policy, the personalized master’s degree prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities. Program graduates are adaptable, easily able to shift and move as their career paths and job markets change. It also allows students to step within or beyond the K-12 or higher education spaces, moving into diverse settings such as libraries, museums, corporate offices, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and more.

The program also focuses on opportunities in fast-growing fields. Training and development specialist employment opportunities are projected to grow 11% while the need for leaders who can drive digital transformation is growing as learning environments continue to evolve.
