Dr. Laura Engel, Associate Professor of International Education, was selected for a 2023-2024 Fulbright Scholar Award in Costa Rica. Dr. Engel will be based at the UN University for Peace to carry out her project, Strengthening Global Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainability.
The project focuses on (1) teaching seminars on education policies related to global citizenship; (2) research on national and regional education policies related to global citizenship education in collaboration with UNESCO San José, a cluster office to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama; (3) cultivating a cross-national partnership between the UNESCO Chair on International Education for Development (based at GW) and the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development (based at the UN University for Peace Earth Charter).
