GSEHD faculty member Dr. Bernhard Streitwieser recently presented at UNESCO headquarters in Paris as part of the Symposium on the Future of the Right to Education: Renewing Global Commitments and Charting Future Direction, an international gathering of scholars, policymakers, and education leaders focused on advancing educational rights worldwide.
Dr. Streitwieser participated in a panel titled “Higher Education as a Space of Intersecting Human Rights,” which explored the role of colleges and universities in promoting and protecting a range of human rights within increasingly complex global contexts. The discussion examined how higher education institutions can serve as critical spaces for inclusion, participation, academic freedom, and social development.
The symposium brought together experts from around the world to reflect on the future of the right to education and to consider how international commitments can respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in education. Dr. Streitwieser’s participation reflects his longstanding scholarship on global higher education, internationalization, and educational access.
