Curriculum and instruction (C&I) are central to educational improvement, constituting the what, how and why of teaching and learning. The study of curriculum and instruction not only entails content, methodology and assessment but also an understanding of why curriculum and instruction are important in affecting change both within and outside of schools.
In today's climate of educational reform, new educational leaders are needed who are knowledgeable of educational reforms from multiple perspectives, and who are prepared to conduct research in curriculum and instruction that can inform theory, practice and policy.
