Alumna Caitlin McCrimmon (master's, Curriculum and Instruction) was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award at Oak View Elementary School in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she teaches 4th grade. She was nominated by a committee of leaders from her school.

In an email to Dr. Curtis Pyke, GW Associate Professor of Curriculum and Pedagogy, Ms. McCrimmon said, "I wanted to share this accomplishment with you all as a reflection of the strong foundation your program provided me. I am truly grateful for the knowledge, mentorship, and support I received during my time there. Your commitment to developing and nurturing educators has played a significant role in shaping me into the educator I am today."

She was celebrated at the first Annual Gold Star Gala Teacher of the Year event, put on by the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA) and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). At the celebration, they honored an exceptional educator from each MCPS campus.
