GSEHD alumna Dr. Danielle Bierzynski (EdD in Curriculum and Instruction) led the team that developed classroom resources for PBS LearningMedia in support of Ken Burns’ documentary, The American Revolution.
The American Revolution Classroom Collection includes 40 media-rich, classroom-ready resources designed for students in grades 3–12. Developed by educators from across the country, the collection provides teachers with engaging materials that bring the Revolutionary era to life while deepening students’ understanding of the nation’s founding.
Reflecting on the project, Dr. Bierzynski highlighted the collaborative effort behind the collection: “The American Revolution Classroom Collection has 40 classroom-ready, media-centered resources created by brilliant educators from across the country who infused each resource with their pedagogical and content expertise and a deep love of history.”
She also emphasized the collection’s goal of helping students develop new perspectives on American history through meaningful and lasting learning experiences. The resources were intentionally designed to provide innovative, accessible ways for teachers to engage students with historical content.
Dr. Bierzynski noted the importance of public media in supporting education, stating, “The resources we create are FREE because we believe every teacher and student deserves access to high-quality, trustworthy, and nonpartisan educational content.”
The project reflects Dr. Bierzynski’s commitment to curriculum development, educational access, and the creation of high-quality learning experiences for students and teachers alike. Her leadership in bringing these resources to classrooms nationwide highlights the impact of GSEHD alumni in shaping educational content that supports teaching and learning across the country.
