GSEHD 2020 PRIDE FORUM - Bostock and the Future of LGBT Employment in Education
Hosted by Dr. Dwayne Kwaysee Wright, Visiting Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration

"In the early morning hours of June 28 at the Stonewall Inn in New York City's Greenwich Village, a group of people decided to fight back against police violence and abuse." Although this could be a modern-day headline, the Stonewall Riots took place back in 1969. In commemoration of this uprising, we celebrate PRIDE Month every year in June.

During PRIDE Month 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court released a historic opinion which ruled that federal civil rights law protects gay, lesbian, and transgender workers from discrimination. But what does this actually mean and mandate in practice?
In recognition of PRIDE and in celebration of the members of GSEHD's community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender, we are hosting a forum next week to discuss the Bostock v. Clayton County (2020) case -- to highlight how far we have come, take stock of the present moment, and marshal our expertise and research to impact the direction we are going in the future.

Dr. Wright will provide an overview of the case and facilitate discussion. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
