Dr. Trimmer has spent her career in education working with students to help empower them to learn and craft meaning of information they have gained in academic and non-academic arenas.  She is passionate about creating equity in the classroom and working with future administrators to help them incorporate research and best practices as they build authentic learning environments.  Dr. Trimmer has presented educational workshops on the local, state, and national level for over fifteen years on the topics of collaborative learning, differentiated instruction, and the collaborative study of student work.

Prior to joining the faculty at the George Washington University, Dr. Trimmer spent over thirty years as a teacher, principal, curriculum director, and assistant superintendent in school districts in Pennsylvania, and most recently she worked as the Field Experience Coordinator and an adjunct faculty member at York College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Trimmer holds a B.S. in Police Corrections and certification in Social Studies Secondary Education from York College of Pennsylvania, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from The Pennsylvania State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University.
