Contemporary Jewish Life

This course explores and takes the measure of the contemporary Jewish experience in the United States. Drawing on a series of sharply focused case studies, among them the impact of technology on religious practice and the resurgence of interest in East European Jewish cuisine, it looks at the complex and often surprising ways in which modern day Jews define themselves. The course also provides students with the opportunity for shadowing a mentor.
