Counseling (Doctoral)

Please note that the application deadline for this program is December 15th for the following fall semester. This program only admits for the fall semester. Applicants should follow the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences admissions procedures.

Program Delivery

The counseling PhD program is offered through the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS) in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. While applicants technically submit their applications to CCAS, all coursework, advising and student services are administered by GSEHD. 

Program Mission

The mission of the program is to prepare students to become highly knowledgeable, skilled, dedicated and ethical professionals, researchers, educators and practitioners for leadership and expert service that enhances human development and advances the counseling profession.

  • Counselor education and supervision
  • Individual and group counseling

Accreditation

The PhD in counseling is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which is the nationally recognized agency for the accreditation of graduate programs in counseling.

Assistantships/Fellowships available for full-time, on campus doctoral students only.
