With one in 88 children affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), special education for children affected by this disorder is needed. The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) will spend the next five years training teachers in methods for addressing ASD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, with the support of a grant for $1.18 million from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).
The project, “Voyages: From Natural Environments to Inclusive Preschools: Transforming Educational Outcomes for Young Children with Disabilities,” will be led by Jay Shotel, chair of GSEHD’s Department of Special Education and Disability Studies.
