Advanced Web Design and Application in Education (Certificate)


The Program
The graduate certificate in advanced Web design and application in education is designed specifically to meet the pedagogical needs of teachers and administrators in learning and teaching Web site design. It may also serve the needs of individuals from non-school, higher education and corporate settings who are interested in earning a graduate education certificate that provides instruction about the development of Web sites for the training sector and teaching others how to develop educational and training Web sites.

Course Description
Courses will address a set of learning objectives that will prepare students to be able to:

  • Plan, develop, evaluate and manage the instructional processes through the development of Web sites to enhance learning.
  • Examine and analyze research in Web-based instruction and learning.
  • Review and analyze instructional design theory and practice.
  • Understand pedagogical issues and apply instructional strategies for teaching students (at all levels of instruction) the fundamentals of Web design.

Program Outcomes
The objectives of the graduate certificate in advanced Web design and application in education are:

  • To increase the number of teachers and other education and training professionals who are able to teach advanced Web design applications in instructional settings.
  • To increase the number of teachers and other educational professionals that demonstrate mastery of the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers.
  • To provide advanced training options focused on Web design applications in education for teachers and other education and training professionals that will enhance their credentials and professional opportunities.
