I am an assistant professor of international education and international affairs in the Department of Educational Leadership. I am a faculty member in the International Education Program and also co-direct the graduate certificate program, Incorporating International Perspectives in Education.

Prior to joining the faculty at GWU in 2009, I spent two years as a research fellow in the UNESCO Centre for Comparative Educational Research at the University of Nottingham, UK, where I conducted research on two large-scale, cross-national, EU-funded projects in education and social policy.

My research explores globalization and education policy ,and is focused on three main areas: new and shifting policy spaces in education; education policy uses of international large-scale assessments; and internationalization of education.

I teach courses in international and comparative education including: Internationalizing US Schools; Citizenship, Language, Culture and Nation-building in the Global Era; Education and Diversity in Europe and the EU; UNESCO: Agenda for the 21st Century; and led a short-term study abroad course to Dakar, Senegal in 2012.
