Doctoral student Lisa Childress presents
her original work, winner of the Ralph Mueller
Best Paper Award at the 2007 Educational
Symposium for Research and Innovations (ESRI).

The Graduate School of Education and Human Development received over $16 million in sponsored research grants and contracts over the past fiscal year, ranking 10th in the nation in research dollars per faculty member and 5th in the nation in funded research among private institutions. For illustrative examples of our research projects, please read our publication, Our Mission is Clear.

Research Centers
GSEHD’s Institute for Education Studies (IES) coordinates most of the School’s research efforts conducted through national clearinghouses, centers and institutes. In addition to supporting the research initiatives of faculty members and administering funded research centers, IES publishes occasional papers and monographs.

Student Research
Read the latest, Issues in Educational Policy, edited by Mary Hatwood Futrell, dean of GSEHD, and Iris C. Rotberg, research professor of education policy, with contributions by GSEHD students Louis D'Angelo, Chandra Keller-Allen, Hezekiah Massey III, Elizabeth M. McCabe, and Jennifer L. Whitson.

Educational Symposium for Research and Innovations.
ESRI is an academic conference held each Spring which aims to provide an opportunity for immersion in current research and innovations in education. The conference provides an occasion for participants (professionals, students, alumni, and others) to present their original work in a variety of formats, to receive feedback and support from colleagues and professors, and to strengthen their work for future conferences and publication.

Research Faculty and Lab
In addition, GSEHD's Department of Educational Leadership is home to faculty members specializing in both quantitative and qualitative Research Methods, who serve graduate students across GSEHD. As part of this commitment, the school maintains a Research Lab located on the first floor of the main building at 2134 G Street.
