The inaugural issue of the South Asian Journal of Global Business Research will be officially released in print in early March with articles available online via EarlyCite in January. The Educational Technology Leadership (ETL) program offers both a Masters Degree (MA) and Graduate Certificates. All courses are offered at a distance and are delivered entirely via the Internet. Students never need to come to campus. The program is part of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Both Masters Degree and Certificate students share the same courses. The certificates are each 15 credit hours in length and are very focused on one aspect of the field like Instructional Design, E-learning or Multimedia Development. Whereas, the Masters Degree is 36 credit hours in length and is much broader and extensive in nature. To help support our students, all ETL Masters Degree and Graduate Certificate students receive program specific administrative and technical support.
If you choose to complete an ETL Graduate Certificate, all 15 credit hours may be transferred to the ETL Masters Degree. Since application requirements are somewhat different, acceptance into a Graduate Certificate does not guarantee acceptance into the Masters Degree.
The George Washington University does not distinguish between distance and face-to-face degrees. Therefore, the diploma or certificate you receive from the ETL program is comparable to those received from other face-to-face programs at the University.
The Masters Degree program in Educational Technology Leadership is an innovative program designed to prepare individuals for leadership roles in improving teaching and learning through the application of educational technologies used in K-12 schools, higher education institutions, corporations, organizations, associations, governments and foundations.
The program is founded on three beliefs: (1) that leadership skills and technological competence are fundamental to the appropriate and successful utilization of technologies in educational settings, (2) that access to the requisite knowledge should be universal, despite the barriers of distance, personal physical limitations and lifestyle and (3) that educational technologies focus on improving human performance and learning.
Graduates of the Masters Degree are prepared to assume educational technology leadership positions in K-12 schools, higher education institutions, corporations, organizations, associations, government agencies and foundations. Many students apply their knowledge to existing positions they occupy that have responsibilities for education or training and can benefit from the utilization of instructional technologies.
The mission of the ETL program is to serve current and future leaders in the U.S. and in the international community by offering superior learning opportunities in educational technologies and leadership; and engaging in scholarly activities to advance knowledge and practice in the utilization of educational technologies. A degree from George Washington University is highly regarded both nationally and internationally.
